奇蹟の大藤　真実のふじのはな物語　Great Wisteria of miracle

1991年足利市中心部にあった樹齢130年、幹回り3m60cm、棚面積600㎡の大きさの藤棚（当時）は町の再開発の為移動せざるを得なくなりました。
しかし、幹の直径1m以上の藤は、移植成功の前例がなく、何年も移植の方法を模索し、1994年ようやく移植の準備が開始されました。
幹がもろく柔らかい藤の移動は困難を極めたが、延べ2000名の人々の努力と、諦めない強い気持ちにより、1996年移植が実施され、日本で初めての成功例となり、翌1997年には、たくましい生命力で見事にその棚一面に広がる美しい花を咲かせました。

1991年　足利市堀込町の早川農園より、町の再開発計画により、移動が計画される。

In 1991,the City’s redevelopment plan made it necessary to move the giant wisteria at Hayakawa Farm to somewhere else.

In 1994,prior to transplanting, the 600-square meter trellis were reduced in size to 72 square meters.

1996年1月　移植先の土壌改良作業
土壌の浄化、活力を高め、活性化をはかるため
園内に250トンを超える炭を敷き詰め土壌改良。
早川農園の土も運搬してくる。

January 1996 Soil improvement work at the new location Over 250 tons of charcoals were paved for decontaminate,enrich,and vitalize the soil.

1996年2月　移動準備
クレーンで吊り上げる際、藤の弱い幹を傷つけない
方法として、治療用ギプスにヒントを得て、
石こう包帯を幹に巻き付け、保護している。

February 1996 To move the giant wisteria,they had to be hauled out of the ground with a crane. To minimize the damage to the already brittle trunks,they were wrapped around by plaster bandages. This method was inspired by the cast used to treat human bone tracture patients.

棚の大きさを、縦12m、横6ｍに縮小し、
トレーラーに載せる。

1996年2月　早朝、国道を交通規制して移動
15日、19日、22日、27日の4回に分けて
4つの大藤を移動。20kmの距離を、最高時速30kmで、
約1時間かけて慎重に移動。

Closed to traffic and very early in the morning, the tour giant wisteria were moved to the new location one by on February 15, 19, 22, and 27 respectively.
It took approx. one hour for the truck to travel the 20 km distance at 30 km per hour.

早川農園と同じ木の向きにすることで、
同じ方向から陽の光を受けられるようにする。

In 1996, the transplanting of all four giant wisteria was successfully completed.
At the new location, they were planted in a way so that they were able to receive sunlight just like they did at their old home of Hayakawa Farm.
Two months later, they started to bloom.

1997年　4月　新天地にてあしかがフラワーパークが開園。5月　大藤は無事に花を咲かせる。
そして、今、樹齢160年を超える。広さ1,000㎡の大藤棚に成長。

Ashikaga Flower Park opened in April 1997.
In May, the giant wisteria blossomed magnificently.
The areas of the wisteria trellis exceed 1,000 square meters now.

国内のみならず、海外からのお客様にも人気の藤の花。さくら色のうす紅藤、樹齢160年におよぶ600畳敷きの藤棚を持つ大藤、長さ80mもの白藤のトンネル、きばな藤など350本以上の藤が咲き誇ります。うす紅、紫、白、黄色の順番で日ごとに園内の様子は変化し、その姿を変えて約1ヶ月間楽しむことができます。
